Arles Twins Dine, and Arles Twins Enter represent an ode to aging women, inspired by two ladies of a certain age encountered in a tiny restaurant in Arles in 2007. Their anachronistic grace on entering and dining brought an unexpected warmth and contentment to their surroundings. In contrast, in Arles Cell 1 and 2 a cell user in the now universal posture of public indifference adds nothing, cloaking an entrance with invisible walls. Waiting in Arles - A distracted waiter and weary companion hover in the moments when one's expectation can run high, low or away. Letter to my Love was inspired by a little girl nonchalantly skipping down stairs on her way to somewhere. The title refers to the nursery rhyme with the little twist of fate, maybe happy, maybe sad - "I wrote a letter to my love, and on the way I dropped it...a little boy picked it up and put it in his pocket." |
